Was wondering if it is possible to get an iphone on a contract without a data plan?

Not with Rogers or Fido for sure. I think with Telus you can, as long as your plan otherwise meets the $50 minimum monthly. Not sure about Bell.
2015 wins: Trip for 2 to NYC with airfare, limo, hotel and insurance ($3700); Maple Leafs tickets($250); 32GB HTC One M9 ($700), Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1($200), Samsung Galaxy Note 5($850), Aukey 2 port fast car charger($23), Fitbit Flex ($120), Blue Piston Bluetooth Speaker ($30). 2016 wins: nada

Bell wouldn't let me have an iPhone with at least a 500mb data plan.

The cost of the phone is going to be so high without a $50 plan that it may make more sense to by an unlocked iPhone from Apple or get a used iPhone that's locked to your carrier.

If you don't need $50 worth of services it can certainly be cheaper to buy it yourself.

I think you have to get a data plan to get the subsidized price. If you buy it yourself (Kijiji or Apple store) then no, but honestly, what's the point without data? If I didn't have data I might as well use a Nokia 3110.

Maybe OP is looking for a phone-in-iPod touch?

You can get an iPhone HUP with Rogers with the $10 flex data (retentions).

Would the monthly minimum of $50 still apply? My brother's contract with Rogers just ended.

They still have flex data? I inquired about it a month ago and they said they have at minimum 500mb.

This may be something that they offer periodically like the 6 GB plan.

Remember that the $50 minimum is before all discounts. Or at least, I was able to HUP with less than $50 (after discounts) and $10 flex data.
