From carriers ? Probably.

As mentioned look for carrier deals. For example right now Koodo has the XR for $580 net on any plan. The catch is you need to stay 24 months to keep all the discount.

Anyone remember how much the iPhones were reduced by Koodo or other carriers last Black Friday?

Anyone know if this $70 can be used towards the phone purchase? I fail to see how this $70 is a "savings" for the phone purchase if you can't use it right away for the phone

Fido deal is effectively about $340, if you stay the whole 2 yr contract. $120 upfront on med plan (basically $15/m more than BYOP):

$120 upfront + $360 ($15 x 24/m)
= $480 + tax
= $540 Ont
- $200 bill credit
= $340

Great phone, have been using it for 6 months and so glad I did not get sucked into paying more for the 'better screen', screen is awesome I can't tell the difference.

It was available on the Fido website for Fri & Sat, but they changed it on Sun. Starting on Sun, the $200 bill credit was only for large plan, which makes the deal no longer hot IMO

However, if you go to Wow Mobile, the overall price is pretty similar to the hot Fido deal

$0 upfront on med plan
Basically you're paying $360 + $35 activation - $50 (trade in any old phone) + taxes, - $50 gift card
= $340 including taxes.

Please note there are a lot of people incorrectly calculating the total costs, I did it the above way, which accurately reflects how these amounts are charged

Buying phones off Kijiji is a terrible idea these days with IMEI blacklists that can happen anytime

Telus EPP Plan is the best...need to have your company on their list...today only...10 GB + 10 GB (2 years)= $65....XR...0 upfront $2.50 x 24 months...the phone works out to $60...so all in $65 + $2.50=$67.50 month for 2 years.

How safe is this? Not just on Kijiji, but here on RFD there is a constant stream of brand new in box iPhone XR that are being sold by sellers who got the phone on a new contract (typically 2 years).

How high is the risk and how commonly is it that the phone will suddenly get blacklisted in a few months' time or in a years' time when the original seller stopped paying for the contract? What recourse do you have at that time when the phone suddenly turns into a brick?

I am one of those who sold BNIB iPhone XR which i got on edge financing contract from Rogers to another RFDer.

Gave copy of my Rogers agreement with my name and number on it, but I did hide my Rogers account number and my address.
Using that agreement copy, buyer can most definitely be assured of a genuine deal where phone would not be blacklisted.

But all said and done, when we buy a phone off forums/kijiji you are basically trading between taking some risk and paying less money.
For a completely risk free purchase, better to buy full price/get on contract.

This was the only Telus EPP deal that was even close to the plethora of bargains they offered just one year ago. If I was in the market I would have considered this for sure, but the thought of crossing over from Android to iOS is kind of painful now.
