In western world is it now very hard to control the masses by religion, politics or blah blah, so now the best way to control them is through fear. Make them live in fear, fear of losing their way of lives, fear of losing their 'freedom', and give them a group 'evil' to point their fingers at. It is ironic if you think about it.

If I was on the plane, yes, it would have been annoying to go through all that security and delay, but *shrug* better to be safe than sorry. We live in a different time. If something -had- of happened on that plane, people would be spouting stuff like 'why didn't they do anything when they first found it?', 'why didn't they take the plane to a different place than the terminal?'

But the world today isn't any different. The only difference is that everyone fears. Isn't that the goal of the terrorists, to induce fear in people? Make them clamor about and to make people's lives miserable? That's exactly what they've done. No liquid on the plane, take off your shoes when you cross the metal detectors, etc, etc. The terrorists have been pretty successful at what they do.

The irony is that the Western world says it won't fear, but the paranoia is evident that they do.
