Japan hotel supplied free smartphone ?Tether possible?

I have reserved a few hotel rooms where they supply free use of smartphone, called handyphone for local +intl calls+internet use.
Has anyone use these?
in Japan or other countries, does it allow you to teether to it and use it as a hotspot for example in order to use Whatsapps and Fongo phone?

eg : http://www.keioplaza.com/press/pdf/20170830.pdf

If that is possible, would save the cost of a data sim card!

Not sure if you wouldn't able to tether, won't know until you get there I guess.

I used these guys last time I was there, was great. Used to be unlimited, but would reduce speed if you use more than 1gb per two days or something like that, but worked well everywhere. Used Line to call wife when we weren't together.

Can buy the card in store at Yodobashi or BIC camera or AEON, so just do that if your supplied phone won't tether.
