JOBY GORILLAPOD $14.99 at Blacks
The Gorillapod firmly secures your compact digital camera to just about anything .... anywhere and everywhere. Unlike traditional tripods, the Gorillapod doesn't require an elavated flat surface for you to take the perfect shot.
Measures 150 x 30 x 30 mm (5.9" x 1.2" x 1.2") and weighs only 45g (1.6oz). The Gorillapod can handle up to 800g capacity load.

Actually, the Black's website shows the Gorillapod version that can hold up to 800g which according to the Joby website is the Gorillapod SLR.

It's the smallest version. Blacks has all three...

I bought the "Large" version clone at Dealextreme and it just arrived. It's really cool...you can keep the little base thing attached to your camera and then quickly snap/lock it onto the legs.

i bought an original SLR gorillapod. it only works when the camera is leveled (and i didn't even tested long). but once you point the camera down, which would be the case for some quick macro/close-up shots, gravity will pull it slowly down. i think this product is not worth it. a sure waste of money. i wish i learned of the dealextreme version earlier.
note: my set-up was just a 300D w/ tamron 28-75mm

i think this comment in deal extreme says all what i want to say. applies very much to the joby SLR. so maybe the SLR-zoom is better as it doesn't have the two ball neck, which kinda serves as permanent (basic) ball (head).
Cons: Won't hold a standard sized SLR (I've got a Canon 30d) with a pretty normal sized lens (28-105 USM.) The top ball (behaves like a basic ball head,) loses grip.
There is no stiffness adjustment on the top ball.
Other Thoughts: It's very close to holding my camera as long as it's upright. My camera is 700g for the body and 375g for the lens, so it is pushing the specs of this tripod (states 1200g capacity.) SLR's don't have their center of balance anywhere near their tripod mount, so it isn't surprising that it doesn't quite cut it.
It should do OK with a small SLR like a Canon Rebel or Nikon D40.
Should work great with a super-zoom compact or modern camcorder.
Bottomline: Great deal, but not quite up to the task of holding my camera. Would buy a knockoff of the larger Gorillapod SLR-Zoom if it became available at a reasonable price.

Wrong, they are Joby brand. Check the sku against the link posted, have them search for stock in nearby stores if they are out.
They also carry knockoffs, but those don't interest me.
It's not the SLR version those cost more as previous poster said.
The joby is better quality than the dealextreme crap, worth the extra couple bucks.

The Gorillapod doesn't work well with my Canon A710IS. The screw-in on the camera is on the far left so the whole thing is rather unbalanced and awkward.

Just be weary of knockoffs. Just like spending $5 on crap AA rechargeables for a $300 camera vs spending the extra $5-10 on good batteries, why risk it with a $800+ camera & more for the lenses for a savings of $10-15 on another product that could potentially drop the camera onto the ground. For the imitations, it's best to look at various user reviews first...
