[QUOTE=redwings_patriots;11655095]you should take the 2011 Hyundai Tucson out for a test drive. Very impressive. More than enough power, handles like a car and looks nice.[/Q
A-ha, it looks nice! And that's about it

Could you give me some more details about the deal please.
How do you like the car now?
Which dealership did you deal with?

My father is not happy and I feel bad recommending it.
He had Shift Locking Up and yesterday the dealer says they have to replace the CVT Transmission.

Should be under warranty at the very least. I am not a big fan of the CVT....typically better than auto trans for gas mileage, but I don't think that it's worth it IMO.

10 YEAR EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE CVT TRANSMISSION http://www.nissanassist.com/index.php?menu=1
Nissan extended the warranty on the CVT transmission for 10 years. Copy of the 'Owner Letter' to print & keep with the warranty info is here: http://www.nissanassist.com/ProgramDetails.php?menu=2
How long has he had the car?

It is covered and we know about Nissan extending it but he just doesn't like that it failed because it may be a PITA afterwards
My boy at work, also got his CVT replaced on his Versa and two others. All of them ended up selling/trading their cars in within a year.
The Rogue is almost three years old.

Versa is Toyota ... same issues? and with two other makes/models? They sure don't make cars the way they used to! My last Nissan lasted me 17 years ... all was great, excep the rust! Gone are those days. My Rogue is 2 yrs old ... when I researched it, the CVT failure was a definite deterrent but the 10 yr extended warranty eased my mind ... replacement may be MUCH better than the original but I can see why your dad is upset. No guarantee of anything theses days regardless of make/model! Hubby bought a Hyundai Sonata in Feb .. just 6 months ago ... and has had problems (especially with after sales service) since! At least Nissan's service is great!

Versa is Nissan. I think you're thinking of the Toyota Venza.
My 09 Altima's CVT is still working fine... knock on wood
