Keyboard Vacuum

I, like many people on RFD got a notebook on boxing day. My last notebook had a messy keyboard, and since this one is new, I wanted to keep it clean. Anyhow, I wanted to ask if anyone had seen any good deals on those tiny keyboard vacuums or just hand vacs in general.

Never tried it ... so my question is:

Is it relatively safe to use a vacuum on a keyboard?

No problems with static electricity? Etc ...
