[Koodo] 32GB Pixel XL, $604 (plus sim card + 1 day's service)

Did a quick search and didn't see this anywhere, looks like Koodo has the 32GB Pixel XL on sale for $100 up front on a large tab ($504 tab balance). You have to buy a sim card obviously, and sign up for a plan and cancel right after, but still works out to a pretty good value considering regular price from Google directly is $1049, and outright price from Koodo is $1054.

Total price should work out to be:
$100 + $10 sim card fee + tax up front = $124.30 (ON taxes, update accordingly for your province)
1 day's service when you go home and cancel immediately (a buck or two)
$504 + tax on your tab balance (if you change your # to an Alberta # in the self service portal before cancelling, you can also save 8% and only pay GST) = $529.20

All in, you're looking at under $660 for Ontario.

Update - the regular Pixel is also on sale for $0 on large tab, so same calculation as above minus the $100 up front. Should come in just under $550 all in, in Ontario.

Update - the regular Pixel is no longer as good a deal. $200 up front instead of $0. Not worth it now, IMO. XL remains $100 upfront so still $450 off.

It really isn't. When they ask why you want to cancel, you say "I found a better plan but I want to keep the phone". Transfer over to the cancellations department (after being on hold for 20 minutes), and boom, done.

OR, get a prepaid plan and port your number out, that works too :)

I just ported it over to virgin mobile as I had a spare pre-paid SIM sitting around. Don't want to talk to nobody.

All Google phones are unlocked, regardless of which carrier you purchase from.

Hrmm, I've got two weeks left before I can pay off the tab on my LG G5 that I got on the Mother's Day promo... I really want to jump on this though. I wonder if I can convince them to let me pay off my tab two weeks early?

Call them. Koodo wheels and deals. I got in on a G4 deal, and then before that tab was paid, the Black Friday deal on the G5 came up. The rep helped me pay off the G4 tab over the phone, and then IIRC he even gave me a $50 credit toward the G5. I heard about this from other RFD members. Give them a call, it doesn't hurt to ask.

That's my plan. Fingers crossed. I've got a spare $200 credit on top of my current remaining tab balance that I'd like to put towards another phone before cancelling :)
