What did you ask to get to retentions? And what did you say to the rep in retentions? (e.g. were you interested in 'porting your number' out? etc.)
I basically said a friend got the wind deal and was honest about wanting something comparable. After a few minutes the first clerk transferred me to the second person and it was easy and honest from there.

She also asked for my friends number to see how his retention clerk got the OP discount and then I mentioned it was a red flag deals thing and she put two and two together about the extra phone call volume.

I'm calling to see if I can get anything comparable to wow mobile for the S8+ and I'm guessing everybody is calling from this thread.. I've been on hold for 1.5 hours!

You forgot about the hundred scum lurkers who never contribute to RFD, but hoarde all the deals. I'm betting a bunch have gotten it. It's a retention deal after all. Doesn't take much.
I say time and time again that RFD should be an invite only forum.

I'm in Vancovuer. Earlier this year, they did the Manitoba $48 5gig plan in BC, so I got that. Called in, spoke to retentions and got 1GB for $1.

Year 2015 :)

Jokes aside, I'm on a 1+1GB plan with Fido for 35$ like I mentioned a few posts above. My GF is with Virgin and she called them last week. She told them I had 2GB Unltd Calls/Texts with Fido and that she wanted the same thing. Took less than 10 mins and she got the 2GB Unltd plan for 35$.

Not sure what's your provider ATM but it might be worth a call to see if you're eligible.

My intention was purely to inquire with Koodo if I will be dinged for 30 days bill if I port my number or do I need to request cancellation with Koodo first and get the number ported to Wind on 28th day to not lose any money.
Not directly relevant to the deal, but CRTC rules
You do not need to provide 30 days notice before cancelling your phone, mobile, Internet, or TV services.

You've been a member of RFD since 2008!

Rule #1 is like to NEVER mention RFD.
(Rule #2 is probably never to call in about price errors.)
