Yeah, I was wondering if this is also available at Koodo kiosk where they would give you the gift cards right away...
Online only.

Anyone thinks FS or BB would be willing to give an extra 25$ GC to match Koodo's price?

Pulled trigger...
but even if it gets charged for 2 months, $46 (inc taxes) with the $125 tab, the real cost is only about $75. Unless there are cancellation/admin fees? Even if assuming for "unknown costs", the phone is still just $100. Couldn't think of any BNIB phone comparable for $100...

thanks op.
Tax on the tab too, so 20*1.13*2+(125*1.13)= $186.45

For the Ace, 20*1.13*2+(75*1.13)=129.95.

So $86.45, or $29.95 after the gift card, assuming 2 full months of service. If not, they prorate it when you cancel.

Do either of these phones work with Wind? Trying to find a good deal for a Wind compatible phone.

"Free $100 gift card when you buy online at koodomobile.com. Available with new activations only. For online purchases, gift card will be mailed 4-6 weeks after activation if account is in good standing. While quantities last."

Good standing, does this mean it has to be "active" or good standing as in simply paid off/canceled/ ????
And the $100 Gift Card?.... Visa? Mastercard? AE? or Koodoo?
I received a VISA one. I paid my Koodo bills with it and some Groupon purchases.

You can save another $25 on the tab if you have a referral code (so your tab would start at $100, which is exactly the value of the Gift card). Any Koodo Tab user would be happy to provide you with a referral code, me included.

If you want a referral code, send me a message that includes your name and email address. You can place your order tonight. The referral code has to be used during activation, not during ordering.

How would this work again? It being a tab and all.
You do not pay anything upfront. Instead they create a Tab (HTC One V = $125). So you oww $125 to Koodo - if you use a referral code during activiation (I can give you one), $25 are taken off. leaving $100 on the Tab. 10% of your monthly bill (pretax) is credited towards your tab. So eventually your Tab will go down to zero and even reach a positive balance (max $150). Neither interest nor tax are charged. You are not charged the 10% either, they are a free bonus.

Only if you cancel your phone line with Koodo before your balance is zero, you will have to pay whatever is left on the Tab plus tax to Koodo.

Tabs are per phone line, not per account. If you have several lines on one account (max is 4) each one will have a separate Tab. HTH!

I'm just planning on buying the phone without a tab and cancelling service immediately, unlocking and using it on Bell (for now). I'm guessing I'll still have to pay a pro-rated amount for the monthly fee until the end of the billing cycle, which is the 14th from what I remember.

This is a pretty good deal. I have a couple questions:

1. are you sure we can cancel after 2 months without any penalties ?

2. the fine print regarding the $100 gift card says, "...While quantities last." Does that mean they can say they ran out and now they don't have to send us the $100 gift card ?

If you're on a tight budget, take a look at the Virgin Galaxy W at Best Buy for $0 up front, $150 on the SuperTab with a bonus $125 gift card. It has the Wind/Mobilicity bands in addition to the Big 3. Unlocking costs $15 via the FastGSM USB cable method. Don't forget to use the Best Buy RewardZone referral offer to get an additional $25 gift card (pm me for details).

And yes, you can cancel as soon as you get home and the max you will have to pay for is a month of service, and if convert your account to Virgin prepaid instead of cancelling, you likely won't have to pay for more than a few days of service.

Also consider the Galaxy S II X which is a much better phone, albeit a bit more expensive:

IS there a way to buy without activation? I wish this is prepaid phone price rather than activate and cancel.

Koodo doesn't do prepaid. At the most you'll have to pay for service until Dec. 14 even if you cancel immediately.

Does the HTC One V have unassisted GPS (ie: real gps capabilities without needing cell tower service) ?
