I’m trying to read up on how I could get the phone from other koodo threads, but I’m not sure if I understood it correctly.

So for non Koodos customers, I’ll pay $200 then put it on seasonal hold for 3 months (paying 3x $15), then I can cancel it and the phone is mine to keep?

Thanks!

You could cancel the same day and pay off your tab. You don't need to wait for 3 months.

You pay 24 x the monthly Tab + the $200 up front. There's no getting out of the 24 month x Tab.

For the iPhone 8 64GB you're paying:

$200 + tax on your first bill
$21 + tax on your first 24 monthly bills which you can pay off at any time. $504 + tax

So the phone is costing you $704 + taxes to buy. There's NO getting around that.

On your first bill, you get a $75 credit.

Best case scenario you're paying $795.52 - $75 or $720.52 for the 64GB iPhone 8.

This appears to be a reasonable deal given people are 'asking' $800+ for the phone on Kijiji. So I guess if you really want the iPhone 8 and had $720 burning a hole in your jeans, it's a good deal.

For my $500 I have a 128GB iPhone 7 off Kijiji and don't expect I'd gain much with an iPhone 8.

You are a brave man, buying off Kijiji.
You know they can blacklist anytime. There is no security like that. At least RFD has feedback.

So if I do this a sign up, cancel and then buy out. Will they unlock the phone for free? Or with a fee? Anyone?

If you really don’t need wireless charging save yourself $200 and just go with iPhone7.

I just got an 8+ for $100 plus tax and $21 tab large for 24 months. I got this deal by calling in. The bill credit of $75 was used to offset my existing tab. Koodo was very competitive on the phone and plan and ended up being lower than Bell or Rogers, Fido or Virgin. And it knocked $5 off the monthly bill, down to $79, for unlimited calls/texts and 2gb of data. The deal was good for me. I had an SE but it was too small.
