[Koodo] Koodo BYOD Quebec plan $49 8GB

Just saw this on their Koodo Quebec site. Total of 8GB for $49. Look at the last line in the pic, you can add 2GB extra for 2years.

This is a good plan if you don’t need all that data from the 10GB $60 plan that are currently available in some provinces.

You can save $11month, $264 over two years.

Koodo has closed the loophole that allows you to sign up for a Quebec plan and switch to Ontario phone number online right?

This is a great offer as you save $11/month, and give up 2GB, vs the $60 10GB plan. I currently have the 8GB plan at $55 from last year, but have the $10 BYOP discount for 12 months, ending in April (4 months left).

Assuming I switch for January, Id give up $40 in credits but save $6/month thereafter, meaning my breakeven is 7 months, or July, 2018. I do not plan on leaving Koodo so this is a safe bet IMO.

Last year I was able to port my ON number out (with Koodo) and use the "QC method" to obtain the plan:
1. Buy 2 SIMs: 1x Prepaid and 1x Postpaid
2. Active second Postpaid line with QC number on the discounted plan (ensuring a referral is used to capture the 2x $25, paying for the SIMs)
3. Port my current ON Koodo number out to Prepaid
4. Port Postpaid ON back to line activated in Step 2

Any issues with this process?

Can the Koodo referral codes be used in a store (e.g. BB or TMS) or only on the Koodo site?

Also this is presented by Koodo as 5+1+2GB. Is it in fact 5+3 or 6+2? I guess you could end up with only 5GB (or 6GB) after 24mo, while the ON plan is 10GB ongoing?

Thanks!

Your $55 8GB is 8GB forever
why change to this new one?. It will become 6GB after 24 months

I thought that I read that the website no longer allowed you to do step 4... That you can't port an out of province phone number onto a Koodo plan anymore

2 years is a long time in phone industry. My guess is better plan will be available by this time.
