It’s too bad that I can’t get this, but good on those that did get it! Currently on $60/10 GB plan with Koodo, small/medium tab eligible. Tried texting all the Data numbers, not eligible, so don’t think I’m going to risk it, haha.

Though I clicked to pay my tab off online a few days back, and got a call from koodo a few hours later, missed it and they didn’t leave a voicemail. So I’m going to call them back this morning and see if maybe they’ll have a promo offer for me. If not, I’ll probably switch to the PM 5 GB for $38. I don’t even come close most months to 10 GB so the PM plan will suit me just fine.

Then who knows, maybe another migration offer will come around in the future, heh.
Please do not PM me with requests for assistance, unless I PM you first, or if I give you permission to. That's what the forums are for!

Thanks OP!

My dad needed a simple calling plan which had unlimited Canada wide minutes and texting. This was great by Koodo to offer something like this as BYOD plan! Did the order online and got confirmation email with my order. He has Bell Canada so I will be porting his number once I get the SIM card and activate the line.

Kudo's to Koodo!
Should have referred your dad to public mobile instead. (23$ with auto-pay gets you unlimited talk/sms + 1gb of data + 10$ referral credit (to offset sim cost))

My hunch for those that got the text is there will be better offers to come. I'm staying put.

What are the chances of never getting additional good data rates beyond 10GB by switching to the $25 base plan?

The $40 Public Mobile migration plans seem to be targeted with 10GB data add-on deals, sometimes multiple times, so that they can stack.

What's the likelihood of someone with a $25 base plan being able to exceed 10GB at decent pricing if need be? Yes, right now 10GB is enough, but in future summers I could see myself exceeding 10GB/month.

It's tough for me decide between $54 for 18GB or $39 for 10GB with probably no chance in the future of being offered $53 ($39 +$14) for 20GB.
Additional data rates are $7 per 100 MB with the $40 for 8GB Public Mobile migration plan. Additional data rates are $10 per 100 MB with the $25 talk/text plan.

Also, there's a precedent for $25 plans being increased eventually by $5 on Koodo. It's true that price hikes could happen to Public Mobile migration plans, but so far that hasn't happened.

If I sign up today online, it would take a few days for it to arrive. Is there a quicker way to get the sim? I suppose in store, but that would cost money.

This deal isn't guaranteed, correct? So you're taking a chance signing up for the $25 plan?

And is there a way around the $35 activation for this $25 BYOD deal? I'm in a Walmart.

Unless you're an existing Koodo customer who has received a text message offering $14 for 10GB, you can't get the data portion of this deal.

The $25 talk/text portion of the deal is supposed to be for new activations only.

Sometimes you are able to call in and get it waived/promotion but usually there isn’t. $35 is peanuts fee to get a good plan/good phone

I got the text offer as well, but not sure it's worth losing my current PM Migration plan over if it doesn't work since I don't use much data anyways.

I don't think there has been any reports of anyone who signed up as a new customer at Koodo and got the data add on text.

Thread title needs to be updated, highly YMMV for existing Koodo customers only.

I have $45 for 8GB deal. I sometimes get close to the limit.

If I jump on this, I would be at $59 for 18GB. $20 more a month or $240 a year...

Having a hard time deciding :S

Decent deal at $39 for 10GB.

I wonder if wifi calling is included?
Koodo has volte and vowifi on their post-paid plans with compatible devices.

There's no guarantee at all.

I doubt $25 base plan customers will ever receive 10GB add-on offers for $14.
