I dont get the point of getting sucked into Koodo or a 'discount provider'. You need a premium plan, $74minimum, and a large tab is, $21 a month.

At costco, you get gift cards through the rear, and Bell sells this phone for $197 on a premium plan (around $100; even less if you join a shared data plan). At costco, as a new user to Bell, you walk out of costco with the s8 for $0, or more after the gift cards offset w/ a 2 yr plan.

You're missing the point. You get the phone at a discount from Koodo (about $430 discount), then cancel the plan with Koodo, and keep the phone. Then you go to a cheap plan, say the Zoomer 2 GB plan for $36 per month.

If you went to Bell/Telus/Rogers, you'd definitely end up paying a lot more over the 24 months even if they gave you the S8 for $0 down.

I would agree if those prices were accurate. But there is not $36/mo plan that I see. A 2.5GB plan with zoomer is $72/mo (http://www.zoomerwireless.ca/rate-plans ... ted-plans/). getting the S8 @ a steal of $630 after dicking around cancelling it, over the course of 24month is still $26.25 ($630/24months). So $72 + $26.25 a month, you're at the same exact price you'll pay with a big 3 provider, and you don't have to pull a scam to get the device.

I have owned the S8 for 2 weeks now. Seriously the best phone I have ever owned.

Seems weak. Two weeks ago I purchased this to SK:

SAMSUNG GALAXY GS8 BLACK.. $1035.00
Tab discount -$564.00
Activation Credit -$371.00
KOODO LTE TRIO SIM.. $0.00
KDO HAPPY PLUGS EARBUD BLACK G.. FREE
Shipping Free
Sub total $100.00
GST (5.0%) $5.00
PST (6.0%) $6.00
Total $111.00

I'm already with Koodo so it may have been targeted?

so your S8 is 664 + tax, you probably had $50 koodo credit on your account

The Zoomer $36 2 GB plan existed at the end of June when this promotion on the S8 was also available. Plus Zoomer gave me a free Galaxy J3 which I sold for $150. So the S8 cost $469 actually. Not a bad deal.

My wife and her mom share a 4GB data plan, wife has unlimited nationwide calling, and her mom 300mins local calling, unlimited texting nationwide. With that, her mom got an s7 upgrade, and wife got an s8. I got her mom a case for the s7, the costco protection plan for my wife, and all said and done, bill for the devices, and protection plan was $377, and had a total of $425 in gift cards. The plan itself works out to $155 a month, split between two people ($77.50/mo).

Even if there was a $36/mo plan (which is a huge promo deal), plus the $26.25 device cost per month ($61.25/mo total) you're saving $15/mo. From there my wife can sell her s6 for $200-$250 (if we're factoring that in which is an additional $10/mo gain)

I see no benefit here, especially since that plan is a rarity.

How does this work exactly? You pay the $300, let's say, for the Galaxy S8+, and then you cancel the next day - you end up paying $300 for the phone? That doesn't seem right

Over the course of 2yrs this works out to $33.50 a month for your device. Now you have to find a plan through a carrier, any usable plan (2gb or more) with a carrier is $70 or more. You're essentially just doing what all carriers do with 2 year plans, except on your own, for the same price + hastles.

I would think this is deal for people on BYOP plans or older grandfathered plans that do not allow HUP without changing you to higher priced plans. If you are going to get a current in market plan then this may not be the deal for you.

what about the $75 credit? $729 + tax= $823 plus a days of Koodo service. Might go for this and not risk buying one off Kijiji for $800

as mentioned above, this deal is more for people who are going to buy the phone outright

All Im saying is there is no real benefit to buying it out right in todays society. The carriers have us all in a vice, unless of course you somehow still have an old grandfathered plan in today world, which most dont.
