I have the Koodo $35 QC plan (1gb). I'm tempted to switch over to Public but not too sure about the 3G thing. I only check emails/check web. I had Zoomer and reception was bad for me at times, especially at work. Thoughts?

If Public follows the same pattern as last time, the data will increase within a week, so maybe it'll be wise to hold tight =)
I'm glad I changed the first time, though.

More proof that Telus is trying to "entice" more PM users currently on plans with 4G LTE data to move to Koodo so all that remains with PM is users that have plans with no data or 3G data. Then they will once again "refresh" their site where only 3G data will be available to compete with Shat-R and unLucky. I believe when all is said and done in a few months, maybe by year end, what ever stragglers remain with LTE data will have the "switch flipped" to 3G data only giving them the required 30 days notice.

I see it this way, paying more as a way of future proofing a plan is not that cost effective. If your usage pattern is quite stable, then there is little to future proof against. If you save some money on this plan, why not. The only other thing to think about is the hardware tab. You have access to a tab with Koodo. If you are certain that you will never use it, then switching to Public Mobile is potentially a good choice.

Ah I see. I am on a legacy plan so that's probably why I didn't get the offer. I have 333 mb LTE each 30 days.

I'm on the 12gb 3G data / 90 days plan for $45 and they sent me this text:
Public Mobile here with an exciting offer for 1250XXXXXXX. Switch to a monthly plan with our sister-brand, Koodo, and receive $100 in bill credits, 3GB of LTE data, unlimited CANADA-WIDE MINUTES and unlimited international text for ONLY $45 per month! Plus, you may be eligible for a $0 phone with the Koodo Tab! Redeem online at https://Koo.do/choosekoodo and input promo code GOKOODO453GB. Your validation code is your phone number. Offer ends May 13, 2018. You're included on the list for Public Mobile offers and deals. To be excluded, reply unsubscribe. Conditions apply.
Seems like a stupid "deal" to me. Lose all my PM discounts to "upgrade" to a plan with less data?

No. If you read the thread, you'll find out that even some existing PM customers didn't get these offers.

This migration offer does seem wrong. There is plenty of time to wait for a betterment. The February migration started at 4GB and went up to 6GB.

I'm not sure that's the case (migration of 4G LTE plans specifically). I have 3 plans, no data, legacy LTE 333/mo, and 500/mo 3g. The transfer offer I received was on the 3g plan.

Yet long-time existing customers have to pay $10 more and get 1/2 the data whereas new customers get a great deal. Sounds fair Koodo.

NB
Recent Koodo prepaid to postpaid migration offer was not bad at all. $20 unlimited Canada-wide +$1-$5 data pack (YMMV, some people reported getting 1GB for $1), minus $100 referral bonus (and another $100 if referred self or family member)

I sense that Telus is using Public Mobile to bring customers in the door. The migration plans are used to shunt the customers over to Koodo where they really want them to end up. It doesn't matter the exact intentions, take advantage of the situation where it makes sense.

I think the comment of Telus using Public to attract customers sounds about right. They're dangling the "carrot" to see if they can up sell.

I signed up on Public a couple months ago on the $30/500MB/3G plan and got the Text offer to switch to the $30/1GB/Unlimited Canada Calling/Unlimited International Text plan on Koodo yesterday. It's not a bad offer with the exception that Koodo offers terrible US roaming rates of $7 per day compared to Public's $20 for 10 days. For me the Canada wide calling is of no value and I use almost no data (99%+ on WiFi) so an extra 500MB isn't real attractive to me either. I'm in the US multiple times a year and no chance I'm paying $7 per day roaming.
