Laptop access to computer

I want to purchase a laptop that I can then access my computer wireless at home. That I will have access to the Internet and files on the hard drive on the computer.

What is the best way to do this?

Ummmm. Am I missing something here? All you'd need to do would be to buy a laptop with a wireless card (ie: 802.11g-compatible), and a wireless access point (and router) such as the Linksys wrt54gl.

Wire the wireless access point into your network and configure it. Set up the laptop and configure the wireless card to connect to such a wireless access card. Set up your existing networked computers for file sharing and/or remote access/remote desktop. Then presto!
