laptop antenna question
hey guys,
i have a question.
Does the brand of the antennas that you attach to the mini PCI wireless card affect the card's performance? Is there like different types of antennas?
I'm asking this because I just got the 2200 BG (I had a crappy one before) and my friend also has this but his laptop was already installed with it, so i do not know if his antennas are "better" quality (like intel brand or something). We tried connecting to a wireless in this area, but his got some connection but mine didn't even detect so i was just wondering whether it had something to do with my antennas.
Thanks.
thanks.

I tried switching between 3 different antenna types a while back in my old Thinkpad X24 and didn't notice much difference. The position of the antenna and the minipci board's chipset seemed to have a bigger impact.
If you want better performance ditch the 2200BG and get something with an Atheros chipset.
