Try wiggling the adapter and see if you can get power to the notebook if you hold it in a certain position.
The problem may not be the adapter, it could be the connector on the notebook.

Laptop Looses Power what to do..?
My Toshiba Laptop suddenly goes off ,I think the pin going into power slot is loose or something is wrong with the adapter ,any suggestion where to get adapter or i could get it checked ..?

this is EXACTLY what happened to my Toshiba. You need to take it to a technician, you're having PSU issues. This problem is caused by Toshiba's notorious overheating issues, but its a simple enough fix. One of the molex (?) connectors inside the lappy has probably melted.
