Laptop suggestions/opinions

I need to buy a laptop as I'm about to set off traveling. I'd like something that gives me the option of playing games like SC2 for rainy days with nothing to do. I'm looking at this HP DV6-3040CA right now. It seems to have pretty much everything for a decent price :Blu-ray, good dedicated graphics card, large hard drive, beats audio and a decent processor.

I've done quite a bit of searching around between the various manufacturers, including dell, and I can't build or find anything like this without spending around $900. Any suggestions/opinions or other options would be greatly appreciated!

factorydirect has a pretty good one for 750: http://factorydirect.ca/catalog/product ... ode=HP3093

but now a days they all have this glossy screen that can replace a mirror every day on a bight day, and you cant see anything on the screen.

If you get one, get either a matte one, or an LED, cos they're bright enough.

Also, hp is pretty good, I have 2.

This Asus will have a better build, and has a MUCH better warranty then the HP. It's also around the same price. The only thing lacking, is the Blu-Ray, but they are cheap now to buy 3rd party. (and they are now all SATA and have the same design, so it's plug and play.)

This one here is a 17" + blu-ray for a bit less.

Asus has the markets BEST warranty, even better then Apple! It includes WORLD WIDE repair - anywhere you are, they should be able to repair it.
It also has a 1 year "Accidental Damage Warranty" - drop it, spill liquid on it, if it's in a fire, or electrical surge, they will replace it one time in the first year.

Thanks for this. I was thinking of a topic to do my presentation on. Now I can use this. I always knew asus and lenovo were the best quality, but never had proof.

Go with asus and make sure it's got the 2yr warranty and 1yr accidental.
