What kind of laptop do you have?
What kind of "tv cable" is it?

Laptop to TV: how to setup?
The TV cable came with the laptop.
Thing is, I can't get the laptop to play to the TV. Too much hassle to burn to DVD's so that the TV can read them
Any tips?

You should have an SVGA port on the back of the laptop; the cable you have should connect into it and the other end into the "Video In" port on your TV or VCR. That's all I have to do and it works fine.
You can either use external laptop speakers or just use the ones built in and you're good to go!

Hi all
It's a Toshiba Satellite M30 laptop (special edition)
The cable looks as follows: 1 end has a jack to go into the laptop, and the other end has 3 (red, white, yellow) female ends. So I used a cable with 3 male ends and 1 to go into the TV, but didn't work. Tried all the slots in the TV, and it does have a S-video slot.

There should be a function key that allows you to choose the monitor mode. Usually it changes between Laptop Monitor, SVGA, VGA, Laptopmonitor + SVGA, or laptop monitor +vga...
On mine (using it right now) it looks like uh. Two boxes side by side with a "/" dividing it...the box on the left however has a box around it lol.
Good luck.

The laptop screen goes black, and I tried video 1,2,3, and aux 3 but nothing on TV, and had to get the laptop screen to activate againLast edited by espeed; Jun 26th, 2005 at 07:29 PM.

Try lowering the resolution on display 2 in display properties window, if its set at 1024*768 alot of TV's will not support a signal this high. Also go through the nvidia display controls and set the 2nd display as TV from CRT monitor.
