I just put in sleep mode if I am not using it, and it's plugged in all the time if it's at home.

I'm careful with my new laptop since my old one within 1.5 years, only had 40 min of battery life.

Now, I take it to work and only use the battery (depending on usage, when I get home, it's between 50-60% which is awesome since I do use it on and off about 2 hours at work), then I recharge it in the evenings as I use it, until it's at 100%, then I remove the battery (though sometimes I forget since it doesn't beep or anything when it reaches 100%). I also unplug the whole laptop when I go to sleep.

I open the laptop when I use it plugged in at home so it doesn't overheat, and when I turn it off, I close it to avoid dust (if I remember).

There's no point unpluging the cord as modem laptop has protective circuit that won't charge until your battery drops below somewhat 93% as I obsvered if it was previously full charged. Dropping from 100% to 93% took about 1ish week.
