Laptop won't boot normally into Windows without pressing F1
I have an HP Pavilion zd8210ca with Windows XP and just a couple of days ago it started to act up.
When I power it up, it just showed a blank screen through I heard the fans running and the power light was on. I kept manually powering off/on the laptop until the BIOS screen finally came up. Still no Windows logo with the loading bar.
Eventually I got fed up and took out the hard drive and put it inside an enclosure to see if the hard drive was still okay and it was. Everything was still intact and I backed up my files just in case something else messes up.
After backing up the files, I put the hard drive back into the laptop and still the same situation. So I kept pressing the Function buttons to try to get into safe mode but nothing. Eventually I got into Windows by pressing F1 but it wasn't in safe mode, everything was normal (but nothing on the screen prompted me to).
After a few restarts, it still doesn't load normally into Windows unless I press F1.
----
Long story short: Power ON --> BIOS screen loads --> goes blank screen --> must press F1 to get into Windows
What's wrong with my laptop?!

Your hard drive probably suffers from a S.M.A.R.T. failure. My Acer laptop does the same thing, it's been bugging me for the past year or so. It's still on warranty with Staples but I lost the receipt and am also pretty lazy...
Mine actually gives a message:
"Warning! SMART failure predicted. Immiment failure expected, backup your data immediately!" or something like that
Anyways if you still have warranty, go show them and they may replace your laptop (this is the 2nd time it happened to me, first time they replaced my laptop), either that or if they have brains they will replace the harddrive.
If you have no warranty left, check hot deals for 2.5" external hard drives, pop the drive out of it and replace your harddrive with that. It should fix your problem.

Try this:
Go to Bios setup -> hardware monitor
Chassis Instrusion [ Disable ]
SmartFan Function [Disable ]
or Power Fan [Disable] *
Save Changes and Exit
* Depend on your Bios
