30fps is better. Feels more cinematic and dramatic. 60fps gives a weird soap-opera or hand-held camcorder effect...at 30fps you might be mistaken for thinking you are seeing an actual real-life film, but once you go into 60fps you know right away it's a video game - it has the video-gamey artificial look to it.

Have you actually played any games that are 60 frames per second? Mario Kart 8 would not be as good if it were 30 fps.
60 frames is smoother for gameplay.

Last of Us Remastered also has an option to lock the game at 30 frames per second too.

30 is fine on smaller tv's, 60 fps looks amazing on my 60", no soap opera effect.

The amount of ignorance and ego from Batman's posts just baffles me. There should be an ignore members' post option where all posts made by said member does not appear.

This is by far one of the worst posts you've ever written and that is saying something. You're trying to compare unlike media then ignoring that certain framerates are chosen due to different cameras, the style of material and too many other factors to list. Then you're trying to generalize very subjective elements. Foot in mouth.

1080p/60fps, higher res textures, shadows, better texture filtering, more detail, slightly better lighting. Basically looks like TLoU PC edition.

This is why Naughty Dog is offering at as option in the first place. For those people who want a more cinematic experience that 30fps gives. Same reason why Ready at Dawn is aiming for 30fps for The Order as well.
It was already known that The Order would run at 30fps with a widescreen-movie-style aspect ratio of 2.40:1, but in a new interview with Kotaku, director Dana Jan explained exactly how Ready at Dawn arrived at its choice of framerate. "60 fps is really responsive and really cool. I enjoy playing games in 60 fps," Jan said. "But one thing that really changes is the aesthetic of the game in 60 fps.

"We're going for this filmic look, so one thing that we knew immediately was films run at 24 fps. We're gonna run at 30 because 24 fps does not feel good to play. So there's one concession in terms of making it aesthetically pleasing, because it just has to feel good to play."

Many have noticed the huge difference in screen resolution and environmental detail, but apparently, the key is the framerate, which obviously can’t be seen in screenshots. Naughty Dog claims to have been able to consistently hit 60 FPS, and apparently it makes all the difference for those who have tried it. Still, a lot of gamers kind of like 30 FPS in some cases, citing the more cinematic look it gives games that the artificial look of 60 FPS might feature.

Think of those Hobbit movies looking like fake plastic at 48 FPS, and you’ll have an image of where these gamers are coming from.

A number of PC games have also started offering 30fps lock as an option, for good reason: that cinematic look.

So I'm not sure if you guys are serious or trolling or just ignorant about it when you say things like "no one would actually claim this" or "this is the worst post ever". This is a very common reason for giving the option of 30fps.

Cinema standards are terrible and it is what people are used to when watching films on the big screen. Most films run on 24fps because it was the bare minimum the film makers could get away with. Video games have far surpassed this low standard. 30fps is not better than 60.

Also, films usually have motion blur with low fps so they look super smooth. Any fast motions in films will become choppy and blurry. Video games do not have motion blur or have poor simulated motion blur so low fps in video games will look choppy. You need 60fps to give the player the maximum amount of information and fluidity to the image

Not all motion blur in video games is crappy. Or at least I guess that's subjective.
