Late 13" 2011 MacBook Pro display issue

Hi RFD,

I had the logic board replaced by apple about 2 years ago just before my Apple Care Plus was ending.

About couple of weeks ago I have noticed my display becoming dim and then back to normal. Also noticed black lines (big dots) on the bottom of the screen. This happens randomly. My laptop has a built in video card.

What could the problem be?

I have attached a picture. Hopefully you can see the dots I am taking about.

I'm not sure what is causing the problem but you should be able to take it to any apple store for a free diagnosis.

If it's happening randromly the logic board / GPU might be dying once again. I had a late 2011 and got a new logic board with apple's extended warrenty on the 2011-2013 macbooks. Last month it crapped out again... so this might be happening to yours as well

Ouch...logic boards run at around $900 if I am not mistaken?

Could it be the display (LCD)?

$600, not worth fixing... i purchased a late 2015 13"... i downgraded my screen size from a 15" simply to avoid the extra 1k.
