LCD Comparisson - Need help deciding

What LCD would you choose out of the two. Im a huge Samsung fan, most of my electronics are samsung but im steering towards the viewsonic, one reason is the lower ms ratings. Samsung and Viewsonic are the top two monitors imo. I want a nice crisp monitor, im not a heavy gamer.

First off, trim down the specs. The deciding factors are generally:size, response time, brightness and contrast ratio. If you do this, then people don't have to hunt through lines of pointless text to find the main points. You might also want to post a price.

Based on the specs, I would go with the Viewsonic. Better response time, better brightness.

these are both lowest end of low end LCD monitors

i should also add comparing manufacturer specs are close to useless

These are definitely not the lowest of low end monitors. If you believe these to be the worst monitors out there, you definitely need to look around a little more. Try posting something constructive, if you want to say they both suck, go ahead, but then post a better suggestion in the same price range.

ok fine.... they're better than generic china brands

try something in the 740 series for samsung... as for viewsonic their A series is horrible

I agree, sounds like they have pickles in their asses :S it's a forum relax, im only asking for an opinion on one or the other. Sounds like these people are on their rags lol :S

I know theirs a lot of smart people on here so thats why I copied the specs out b/c they actually know what they mean and can use them for comparisson reasoning. I trimmed the list down a bit b/c a few were useless.

P.S the prices for both are the same, give or take $5-$10.

to me brightness can be adjusted, thus the deciding factors are contrast ratio and response time. unless ull be using the monitor to play games i seriously believe that u wont notice the the 4ms diff, nor the +/- 50:1 differnece in contrast.

Having said that since the monitors are so similar in both specs and cost i would research their general reliability and get the more reliable one (perhaps the one with a better warranty - tho I'd assume these monitors are direct competitors so the warranty is likely identical), if warranty/reliability proves to be similar then get the one that matches more closely to ur decor!

Im pretty sure the human eye can't really tell the difference between 8ms and 12ms. I know Samsung has amazing warranty coverage, and are considered one of the top brands in terms of LCD monitors.

I learnt that specs don't matter. I'm currently looking at a BenQ and a NEC and the NEC which had a less impressive spec looks better to my eyes.

My side by side comparison was with various small sizes of text, and pictures with skin tones.

The NEC rendered more details eg, the eye lashes, and the skin looked just that much more natural.

I tweaked each of the settings to see if I could coax the BenQ closer, but nope.

So after all the comparisons on paper, be sure to let the eyes do the final test.

Lastly, I should add that I couldn't tell what I was missing on the BenQ had I not had the NEC right beside it. So maybe it doesn't even matter.

don't worry, that's normal.... most people need a A-B test to sense any differences
