The other sets are priced as I expected but $189.99 for the Castle?? Even Star Wars sets top out at 149.99 for the biggest sets.

Then you have yet to have seen all the SW sets...by far!

With the Harry Potter, it won't do as much with licencing as it will piece count/size...just like any other Lego.

EDIT...the Castle is 1290 pieces @ $190...which is on par, if this is in CAD $$. Example, the SW Tantive IV #10198 is 1408 peices and retails on S@H for $200 CAD.

Actually I have seen them all. I know some of them can go up as far as $600 or more. But I'm talking about regular sets that you can get at any toy or department store with 4 digit set numbers, not LEGO eclusives, you ***

You are right that most retail stores like Walmart and Zellers will not carry $200 plus Lego sets. That is to be expected. It is hard to see their regular customers spending that kind of money on a single toy.

But I purchased several Star Wars Tantive (2001) sets at our local Toys R Us. I don't recall the exact price I paid but the suggested US retail price at the time was $200 US.

"Great White" (I think that is the store name) in the South Center Mall in Calgary carries several of the larger ($200 plus) sets. Lego refers to some of these sets as Hard to Find because the main stream retailers like Walmart and Zellers don't carry these sets. Check out Toys R Us.ca. They have the Fire Brigade as well as others.

Does anyone know any US address service kinda thing where I can just get Lego to ship to that address so I can get it for $249 USD instead of paying that stupid Canadian price for the Taj Mahal. I'm giving it some thought as to getting it or not.

I'm not talking about those where you just pick it up by having to drive just over the border to pick it up in the US and back (since I don't live close enough to the border to make the driver worthwhile), but like they'll forward it to you, if such a thing exists.

Shipito

Shipping rates are heavy and may be subject to customs and taxes which may not be worth it after all the hassle.

Not bad, but don't really know what's out that at that price point right now...no SW anyway...

Not very happy right now. Just got this from TRU:

We are reaching out to you today regarding your pre-order for the LEGO
Pirates Imperial Flag Ship and the LEGO Castle - Medieval Market
Village?. At this time, we do not anticipate receiving additional
inventory from our vendor. As a result, your order will be cancelled.
(Note: You will receive a separate email confirming the cancellation).
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

We would like to offer you the following, LEGO Star Wars - Dropship with
Walker with a $50 discount and free shipping, or free shipping off of
your next order. Please refer to your cancelled order when calling to
get the offer.

I know some people reporting getting the Medieval Village, but did anyone who ordered the Flagship get theirs? This really sucks, my son and I were really looking forward to these.
