Why? Not as fashion statement. There's actually a functional reason for using them, as anyone with formal dance training will tell you. Keeps the ankles and lower legs warm to prevent cramps and keep the muscles loose for better dancing.

Ardene has them cheap. like 3/$10 or something close.

H&M doesn't have them anymore. They've basically cleared out the winter accessories at the one near my house.

American Apparel, but they are like $18 a pair.
