I haven't been able to. It seems to apply to the full price, not instant saving price.

As an fyi, the current rumor is that the 9th gen processors should be announced around April 21st and be released in products around mid May.

9th gen is still on 14nm. Intel has dropped the ball and allowed the world to catch up. This is the forth time they've used this process node and it isn't different enough to give it a third + in the 14++ naming convention. So improvements will be marginal and little to no efficiency changes. The H series (i7-9750) will most likely be a 6 core 12 thread processor but the commercial registration states 8 cores with 8 threads (no hyper threading). It may turbo boost to 4.5GHz instead of the current gens 4.1GHz. Expect a 10 to 20% improvement in benchmarks.

No idea if or when it might drop in a Y740 though.

Part of me wants to cancel my existing order and wait for the i7-9750. On the other hand, getting 25% off and 9% ebates is a good deal. Because my order got delayed, I called Lenovo and they offered me an extra $125 off. Also last week I got an email from Lenovo that they'll be giving out $100 USD gift cards for the delay inconvenience as well. They made it very hard to cancel my 8750 order.

The MSI leaked laptop is listing it as a 6 core 12 thread laptop with a base speed of 2.6GHz and turbo boost to 4.6GHz single core. I think it was 3.9GHz multicore or it could be 4.1GHz multicore.

There's been multiple leaks supporting both configs so we'll see on the 21st which one was true.

I started this thread but only got a 12 percent discount so I ended up returning it to get a better deal but after the 3 week wait period my order changed to another 5 week delay (April 30th) so I decided to just cancel my order and wait for the 9th gen release.

It looks like the 10nm process node will be released in 2020 for the 10th gen.

Is it fair to assume the i7 9750 would come with a higher price tag than the 8750H? If so, any guesses as to how much?

I feel like the 8750H will cover all my needs for the next while, got it at a pretty decent price and wouldn't want to spend too much more for a faster CPU.

Just re-read the MSI leak. It stated 50 percent more processors then the 7th gen i7-7700hq which had 4 cores, 8 threads.

Intel tries to keep the price point consistent between product generations so it should be the same. Companies may tac on a premium since it's brand new. They may also offer a discount to the current gen which might be why Lenovos giving people money to keep thier current orders.

Good point, going to contact Lenovo and see if theyll give me a further discount. Ordered a replacement, but its 3 weeks out.

I'm not sure if its considered a "Deal" by default. With the 20-25% off and ebates (currently 9%) you get pretty good savings.

I think students/teachers get 20% off the legion, 25% off with the military discount. One guy posted a few 25% off codes, would have to go through the pages to find him.

Looks like they're gearing up to release i7-9750 edition. Shows as "coming soon" with no processor listed.

From what I heard you can generate as many codes as you want after you get accepted. I could be wrong since I haven't been able to get my account approved.

did you get your id.me approved?

mine was approved within a couple 20-030m min. I generated a code. tried a laptop in the cart to see if worked. removed it. was going to choose a different model once home. a day or two later went back to grab a 17 and the code wouldn't work. figured they have a time limit or something. went back to id.me tried to generate another code same way i did the first time. wouldn't work. i see my troop id everything else looks good, it wants me to submit my id again even though I've already done it and have the troop id. I had to email their support. 3 days they still haven't responded.

btw.. the 25% off for the military disc is off reg retail pricing.. not sale price.

That's odd, for my student discount I can keep generating codes, each one works and don't have to get verified each time.

I'm currently waiting on a replacement Y740 15", might just ask them to give me the full refund and wait on the new laptops to see specs and prices. If it is the Y540, 15" has a numpad and no useless macro keys which I would prefer. The new CPU models should also have the 2060s?
