Lenovo Thinkpad E470 14.0" - i3-7100U/8GB/1080p IPS/Intel HD 620/256GB SATA SSD - $576.95

Deal Link:
Price:
576.95
There's been a lot of talk about the BF deals for the E570 which you can read about here

Today I happened to notice that you can now configure the Thinkpad E470. If you go through the EPP site (code FNDEPP) and apply the code HOLIDAYNB2016, the below configuration is $708.95 + tax. Changing to i3-7100U (so integrated gfx) but keeping the SSD may be a better price point at $576.95.

Differences from the E570 is that the SSD is SATA 3 as opposed to m.2 PCIe (so not as fast a form factor, but it is an SSD), and the GFX card is a GeForce 940MX instead of the GTX950m.
GTX 950m vs. GeForce 940MX - GTX950M is significantly better of a performer. But for a 14.0" laptop with newest generation i7, SSD, 1080p IPS display, this is HOT IMHO.

Note that just like with the E570, the GFX are integrated unless you select the i7, and then when you select i7 it automatically changes the GFX to dedicated. Also note that as this is a SATA style SSD, there is no configuration for dual drives.

As for the wifi card, seems that the options are the same as in the E570 thread. The major benefit to selecting the Intel wifi card is that this is capabale of 2x2 MIMO... others have claimed that the default wifi card has spotty reception (with no backup).

Thanks OP thinking getting one, but I am concerned about one review where someone says that maximum resolution for external monitor is 1080p not even 2k.
Can anyone confirm or deny it.

I have the E550 and that is the only reason I'm not jumping on this deal. My E550 is amazing, keyboard is awesome and overall build quality is probably the best for a laptop under $500. I got mine used for about $175 US but that was a i3-4005u with 4GB ram, so it was the basic model, but still very fast and a pleasure to use.

$480.70 before taxes not bad. Going to swap in the 525gb MX300 from the amazon deal.

Does it have a backlight keyboard? A lot of reviewers said no for the E460, so I am wondering if it is different this time around.

btw, I tried it but it doesn't mention 940M in the final Configuration Details page, and you cannot configure GPU.

Bought Below config total 756 +tax.
Got max memory as I need to do some development on the go. Hopefully hdmi will be able to output at least 2k oppose to one of the reviews at least GTX 940mx is more than capable to do so. Looks like reviewer selected lower config without dedicated card.

You have to select i7 as per OP and it automatically goes to the 940m

BTW, another solid configuration since a 14" is maybe more about portability than performance is the i3 as per below. Configuration comes to $576.95 + tax.

About Backlit Keyboard per Lenovo...

Lenovo has refreshed the keyset on all ThinkPad laptops, outfitting them with the ThinkPad Precision Keyboard.
This new keyset allows a more comfortable, fluid and accurate typing experience with it's slate of individually rounded, spacious, and low-set keys. The ThinkPad Precision Keyboard simultaneously delivers a modern look and feel to your ThinkPad.
*Select models are available with a backlit keyset as standard, or as an optional upgrade.
*Most 15.6" models come standard with full keyboard including dedicated number pad.

Web says "My understanding is that neither the E460, or any of the E series laptops, have a backlit keyboard. You have to move to the T series to get that option."

Same problem. But managed to navigate to the right page in BUSINESS LAPTOP section. Alas, it shows both E470 and E570 models as new. Very tempting to get one but unable to decide.

Configured E470 i7 with 500gb HD and 16g RAM for under $690. Wow! almost same price when I bought a (BNIB) Lenovo dual core lappy with 2g ram in 2006 and it is still functioning with some upgrade RAM and SSD.

I'd say better bang for buck to stick with the i3 and upgrade to SSD.

At a minimum you have to at least upgrade to IPS HD Screen for $50 more.

100% agree. Regardless of configuration IPS is worth it. IPS 1080P vs. 1366x768 TN for $50 is a no brainer.
