Lexus IS - Increased MSRP for June?
Hi There,
Was interested in the '09 IS 250 AWD, but it looks like the price has increased by $700 for June! I'm thinking the other cars have gone up as well. Hard to believe the price for a car has gone UP rather than down these days. Does anyone know what happened? Any insight appreciated!

Rolling back the decrease in price in 2007. Other makers just reduced the rebates and incentives.

Toyota raised prices on quite a few models, effective this week. Here's how they spin it in their press release. Note that despite what the text says, many MY2009 vehicles were affected as well.
Toyota Canada also implemented a general price adjustment on 2010 models. Although Toyota is adding value to the lineup with additional standard
features and additional content in options packages for the 2010 model year, Toyota has kept price adjustments to within the range of inflation, continuing Toyota's philosophy of enhancing successive model years with additional content yet minimal price adjustments to deliver real value to Canadian drivers. Price changes range from 0% to +2.5%, with an average adjustment of +1.2% across all Toyota and Lexus models.

well, increased $700, then added in a lease credit of $500, and then they reduced lease rate from 3.3% to 2.9%. Basically, they kept the price the same, but give us the illusion we are getting a better lease rate and credit...was 49k last yr, and keeps going up...

I like their cars but hate their games. Just buy a different car!

The IS was competitive a year or two ago, but with the new a4, TSX and g37, there are other options out there. Even BMW is cutting deals on the 328.

The IS is assembled in Japan and the pricing is largely dependent on the value of the Japanese Yen. The Canadian dollar was worth a lot more last year, hence the price drops then. Since it is rising again, I believe it is best to wait until fall if the current trend of the Canadian Dollar continues.
However, Lexus has made it clear that they do not plan to offer huge discounts like others even if they lose tons of sales (was in an article last month). So don't get your hopes up.
