LF: Advice on Wii Purchase
I'm planning on buying the family a Wii for christmas and I was wondering if I should snag one from Zellers for $279(using the $10 off $50 purchase coupon) or will there be better deals as christmas approaches.
Right now the stores I've checked have had about 4-5 Wii's on hand when I've stopped by so I'm guessing that if there's a big sale I'd probably do better just getting it now and avoiding the xmas hunting...
So what would be considered a hot deal on a Wii system?

379 for a wii? u mean 279? I guess a hot deal would be ones where u can use coupons. Bb and Fs seem to have a lot of online coupons where they take off like $10-50 off purchases over $100
You could wait till xmas to purchase it, but from what ive seen, many companies decide not to participate in coupons during xmas, as i guess they don't really need them to help drive sales anymore. And there may also be a huge amount of ppl who are hunting for it too. I would prob recommend just checking around for another month (till about mid october), and snag one that has a good price or a good combo deal (e.g. wii console + wiiplay + etc.)

if you can buy it now, buy it and use it....why deny yourself 3 months of fun...thats 3 months you can't get back

Thanks for the tip about FS and BB. I will check to see if their coupon will work for a Wii.
I did mean $279.
TSCC had a Wii bundle for $360 or so but I've got a better unbundled deal...
I got the Wii Play for $40 at Zellers and the spare controller.
As far as getting it early... I could but then it would be my gift to myself instead of my gift to my family. I'm willing to wait to make sure I've gotten the best deal I can. However I was mostly interested in what kind of console deals usually show up for the christmas season.
It says the coupons are not for use on consoles... plus the online purchase option won't work for the supply limited Wii.
On the bright side I did discover that FS is giving away Happy Feet with Wii purchase...
So if I understand correctly I could go to Zellers and try and get the $279 price with happy feet thrown in from a price match?

buy it now! The Wii has been a heckuvalot more popular than expected (it's outselling the PS3 by leaps and bounds) and they are expecting it to still be a "hot" gift this year. Nearly 8 months after release it took me 4 weeks and a half dozen all day line ups before I got my husband his Wii.
Also because the demand for it is still pretty high it seems exceptionally unlikely that it would go on sale at all. Plus you may not be able to pick it up right away at the store you are going to.
