LF: Bicycle helmet deals
Please post deals on child bicycle helmets. Is there anything wrong with buying a used child helmet or from eBay?
Consumer Reports recommends Bell Boomerang as the most parent-friendly toddler helmet. Giro Me2 or Rodeo, Schwinn Toddler/Child Value Pack and Specialized Kid Cobra also had a good overall score. Has anybody seen these models on sale in Canada?
Fisher-Price Toddler and Bell Bellino scored lower. Trek Little Dipper failed. Toys R Us is selling the Fisher Price Barbie Toddler Helmet for $29.99. Zellers' regular price for the CCM Bike Helmet with Visor is $19.97.

I would never buy a used bike helmet from eBay or elsewhere...you never know what kind of impacts it has sustained and been damaged from. I figure my kids' noggins are worth at least a few bucks.
Costco should still have Louis Garneau kids helmets for somewhere around $20. You can see the kinds of designs they have at http://www.louisgarneau.com/eng/cata...yle_no=5405022 ...but I think the ones at Costco aren't exactly the same as those. The "Easylock" makes adjustment really easy on them, btw.
We have one of those for our 5 year old and another for the 2 year old.

I concur - never buy a used helmet. It may have been impacted without showing any signs of physical damage, but the internal foam protection may no longer be safe.
Look for these at places like Sport Check - as the summer progresses they tend to go on sale. I would expect that within two weeks from now you will find them on sale.
