LF: Cheap place to dry mount posters

I got about 5 posters that need to be drymounted...
I use to have a hookup that did it for cost, I think it was $40...

but I've been looking around and most places do it for $70 - $80...
anyone know a place that does it for a reasonable cost in Toronto / markham / scarborough?

you can track down the plak-it factory on the web:

http://www.plak-it.com/contact.asp

it's listed as Rokan laminating. they have a retail and wholesale counter inside (you'll have to call for store hours - i don't believe they have evenings or weekends). it's less than half the cost of going to an art store, and it's the exact same job. they're near the airport in mississauga

You can do it yourself with an Iron and waxpaper (wall paper glue if you're really cheap) or buy pro drymount material (get the stuff with small ridges, it's easier for the iron) and some foam core... but Gator board is the best. I've done all the above.

Is this process where it is mounted on a board to be hung on the wall?

Where you buy the boards?

Thanks for the tip.

Anyone know what places like Costco might charge to Plak a standard size poster ?

Just wondering how much you'd save going to the airport Plak location directly or whether places like Costco are just a cheap ?

My son wants to get some posters of quitar chords and rock bands Plaked for his room.

Costco will be a better choice than going direct to Plak-it. I used to run a photo studio & used to get some mounting by Costco ( I think they get it done from Plak-it as well).
Ciao ;)

know how much costco roughly charges?
since I don't have a costco membership... but I'm pretty sure I can find someone who does.
problem is I need to drag them with me.

Sam's Club does dry mounting too.

Price depends on size. I had some 16" x 20" prints done for $19 each.

i just went to Costco and they dry mounted my movie posters for $34....
.... the Plakit place would do them for $44.93 each.

Not too bad.

Wondering...what size are your posters ? My son's rock band posters that he wants Plak'd are 22" x 34"

Either way, $34 sounds like a pretty good price to me.

they are official movie poster sizes... i think they are 27" x 40"

but I do believe 22x34 is $34.......

I had something done as well for 18x24 and it was $18.

if anything, just bring in the poster to the photo dept and they will give you a quote.... but it takes about a week to get it done.
I think this is the cheapest place to dry mount. I actually used a friend's discount at Black's Photo and it was $40 after taxes.
