ebay can occasionally be useful. Make sure they are not black & white versions though.

Lf: Cheap Textbooks!!!
where's the best place to buy textbooks for university.... their bookstore is gouging me!
i heard u can get them online from like india/ china? for really cheap...is this true and if so HOW?

ask your Asian friends.
Hong Kong has these so called "International" version that is pretty much identical the North American version for about 2/3 to half the price, but soft cover.
India has the "Economy" version which are usually printed on bad quality paper and black & white.. but who cares anyway.
Sometimes these versions have different ISBN numbers so make sure you're getting the right book by checking the cover and publisher.
Ebay is also your friend. Some seller lists the N/A equivalent ISBN number to help you.
Note that you cannot sell these books to the school's used book store.

Amazon.ca, Amazon.com and Chapters.ca are always worth a look.
I've gotten textbooks for 40% off this way before... of course, this only works on occasion... a lot of the time they don't have the book at all (or it's not discounted).
As I said, worth a look though.
