Ikea.
I found a few at Home Depot, but they were pretty small. Ikea seemed to have a much larger selection.

LF: Floating shelves
I am looking for some floating shelves in black, around 36" long, but I am having trouble finding them. I have checked Home Depot, Walmart, The Bay, Home Outfitters.

I agree, ikea has some that I believe are exactly 36" long. Check the "as is" section as they are commonly found there for 1/2 price.
