LF: Installer for garage Door opener in GTA
Hello, I am looking for recommendations for a GDO installer. If anyone had one recently put in and is happy with the installer, can you kindly let me know.
I have a single door garage in a 4 yr old townhome and its located in Scarborough....
Thanks

i need a decent installer too
I purchased a genie garage door opener and am having a difficult figuring out who can install the system. Some places say they will not install as they feel product is inferior (do I just take a 200.00 loss) every installer so far...says I need to have an electrician come and bring the power supply closer to where the unit will be installed. I need help in figuring things out. I am in Barrie, Ontario. Can anyone advise? I am not in the position to throw money in the garbage by getting someone who doesn't truly know what they are doing.

I got a genie gdo.
I did the install of the genie myself. it was pretty straight forward.
Only thiing is, I wish I got the SEARS one instead.
This genie is so loud and not a smooth as the craftsman.
I suggest paying a little more and getting the craftsman and just install it yourself.
Get someone handy to help you. Its not hard.
good luck_______________

Genie screw drive garage door openers are actually highly-rated and quiet, only bettered by the whisper Chamberlains.
Installation is easy on the DIY scale, so it shouldn't be too hard to even find a general handyperson to install it if for whatever reason you can't.
Check yellow pages, classifieds.
Expect $$ for an electrician when the cord can be tacked down properly instead (buy an outdoor rated extension), unless there are NO outlets in the garage.
It is not much different than when the manual asks you to tack down the wire that leads to the controller beside the door that goes inside your home.
After all, it is not a GFCI rated product that requires a dedicated breaker, just plug it in.

You could also wander over to the Homes and Garden thread and search for BuildingHomes, a RFD member who does garage door installs, central vacs, etc. And from what peeps have said, seems to do a good job.
