LF: New Laptop with Easy to Clean Fan
I'm in the market for a new laptop under $900.
I have been to FS, BB, LD, WM, etc. and can not find anything that is easy to maintain. My 4 year old Acer is still rocking because I can get at the fan and clean it. I have 2 cats and the hair and dust jams up the exhaust port. It's overheated twice since I owned it and that was because I forgot to clean out the fan and exhaust port.
Looking at the new laptops it seems like you have to be a laptop surgeon to get at the fan. One would have to totally disassemble the laptop to clean one part.
So does anyone know of any laptops where cleaning the fan involves removing one (or two) small component panels on the bottom of the unit?
My budget is under $900 (can go up to $1,000)

unless you like carrying a brick around all the new ones that are slim, light and portable will need partial or complete dismantling to clean the fan.
but you can become use to using those air cans and blast out the dust every week so you not need to dismantle

Some of the OLDER C2D Asus G series have the fans under.
Easiest now, would probably be the G73 or G53, you can get a refurb for around $950ish

15.6" is what I'm looking for and I may carry it with me about once a month so weight does not matter much.
Blowing the air back in to the laptop will only cause the unit to get clog again with more dust/hair as it just circulates inside.

Thanks, I'll have a look around for those, but I really want new not refurb since my credit card doubles the warranty on new products only. Open box, refurb, etc. are not covered.

Go with a vaio laptop. Mine is a ns series. It's always dead silent. Even when stressing the cpu, the fan never goes loud and the temps are never hot that I don't even bother to reapply thermal paste. If I look at the bottom of the laptop. There are no vents for air to enter anywhere near the fan. There are vents tat are extremely thin far away from the fans to let in air. But theres also a sort of aluminoil foil type material I can see through the vents. The way it's designed. It blows out the hot air, but doesn't really need to suck in that much air so fur and dust getting inside isn't really an issue.

Is there a panel that can be removed to clean the fan?
