I do this already with the cheapest laptop on sale from futureshop or bestbuy.
It straps on the centre console and is plugged into the 12v socket inside the console. I think most of them come with the plug and straps, check the accessories included.
I would strap it to the back of the seat but my daughter would kick it apart
Plus, you can take it out and use it wherever.

(Mine requires DC to charge it though)

LF: Portable DVD player that hangs on car seat
So my toddler needs some entertainment (other than in my form) for long car rides - and holding the laptop up in the air for her to see is quite tiresome afer a qhile... Can anyone recommend a portable DVD player that has straps that can hang behind my seat so that she can view her movie without needing to hold it in her lap?
Thanks in advance!!!

Do you have an XScargo near you? I saw some cases awhile back that they carried. Some even had built in speakers. They were $10 -$20.
Looks like h3ll but works I guess...
BTW... I also found this type on Ebay. Looks better...

Ah, yeah, that would be the other reason it is not in front of her.
My setup is like masterc's first pic. Strapped around the top of the middle of the player and around centre console lid with a clip that will not come apart with any force.
She sits on the rear passenger side.
Just because people don't post every detail, don't assume.

that defeats the purpose in my eyes. How is a toddler supposed to see that? what if you're carrying luggage or bags while travelling, it doesnt let you put anything between the seats at all
