2018 LG OLED TVs on sale - Ongoing thread

Savings:
$1200 off
Retailer:
LG
Note that the prices have continued to be around this price or less, if you know where to buy. And soon the 2019 models will be out.

——

LG appears to have sanctioned nice advertised price drops on their 2018 OLED lines, at least in the 55" and 65" sizes. Note that you can still get the 2017 models cheaper but there are some improvements in the 2018 models including increased brightness and in the case of the C models and higher, a new α9 processor. The B8 gets the α7 processor. There is also black frame insertion on the 2018 models if you care (gamers, etc). Here is a comparison of the C8 vs C7:

*** GO TO THE BOTTOM OF THIS POST FOR UPDATED PRICING ***

The prices directly below are from a sale a couple of weeks ago and the pricing is different now

55" C7: $2299.95 at Best Buy
55" B8: $2499.99 at Best Buy
55" C8: $2699.99 at Best Buy
55" C8: $2697.99 at Costco with 2-year warranty

65" B7: $3299.95 at Best Buy
65" B7: $3297.99 at Costco with 2-year warranty
65" B8: $3499.99 at Best Buy
65" C8: $3699.99 at Best Buy
65" C8: $3697.99 at Costco with 2-year warranty

Note that all the 2017 panels are the same. So, a B7 and C7 and E7 all have the same panel. Also, all the 2018 panels are the same. However, as mentioned, the processors may be different, so the C8 has a faster processor than the B8. Thus, if I were buying a 2018, I'd get a C model. Costco doesn't sell the 2018 B8 models, but provides a 2-year warranty on the C8 models they sell. However, you can haggle at places like Visions, 2001 Audio Video, and even Best Buy, etc. No haggling at Costco. If you're not getting a C8, then for many the best bang for the buck would be the B7, cuz it's a cheaper clearance model, although the B8 may offer some advantages over the B7.

This 2018 pricing was not available to me as of a couple of days ago, but I did buy the 65" B7. It's been under $3000 at Costco and other retailers, but the ~$3299 price has been the norm for the last month. However, at the Toronto 2001 Audio Video store I visited, they offered it to me for $2999 with basically no haggling, even though it's advertised for $300 more. However, I bought it at Best Buy for $3099.xx with 2-year warranty and ISF calibration from Best Buy after a bit of haggling.

Or you can wait until November for the Black Friday deals.

BTW, you will see some reviews out there about the 2017 B7 complaining about the curved stand not being quite as stable as other stands. However, that doesn't apply to us in Canada. The B7P in Canada not only gets the upgraded speaker system (although it is still mediocre), it also get the more stable non-curved stand.

EDIT:

The cheapest price we've seen so far for the 2018 model LG C8 65" is $2900 at the CNE in Toronto. See here:

lg-2018-lg-oled-tvs-sale-eg-55-b8-2499- ... #p29726716

EDIT AGAIN:

Pricing starts below $1900 on the 2018 55" C8. See here:

Pricing is $2800 or less for the 2018 65" C8. See here:

lg-2018-lg-oled-tvs-sale-1900-55-c8-280 ... #p29983962

Pricing is less than $7800 on the 2018 77" C8. See here:

Also, if you have a London Drugs store near you, IN-STORE they have had the B7/C7 65" for $2499 and the 55" for $1799. Stock is going fast though, as these are last year's models.

---

So far it appears the best pricing for brand new (not open box or refurbished) C8 models have come from Visions, Teletime, and Top Choice.
Best Buy cannot compete on price, but in some occasions has been willing to drop the price somewhat and then add in free extended warranty.
The best pricing on the closeout B7 and C7 have been in-store from London Drugs.

All the companies mentioned above (Best Buy, Costco, Visions, 2001 Audio Video, Teletime, Top Choice, London Drugs) are authorized dealers for LG.

For the adventurous, there is also the 65" B7 on eBay from a Brampton seller for $2759 with free shipping. Seller has a 98.8% feedback rating.

Costco here in Winnipeg typically has the B7 for $3000 instore. So a little cheaper than the website.

Yes, it was that price at Costco all over for a while. However, my local Costco (Scarborough) sold out quite a while back IIRC. In the GTA it's sold out, but Barrie and Orillia as of last week had it in-store. However, according to the rep I spoke with, it was at $3296, so not any cheaper than online.

For those in the GTA, it might be worth it to wait for the CNE just around the corner as many RFDers have bought TVs at great prices there.

What were the prices like last year? Mind you, I won't be going to the CNE this year even though I live right in Toronto.

This 2018 panel is the true king of the jungle in consumer retail. If there's anything better, it's considerably more costly.

That said, I will never spend that much on a TV.
I aim to be inclusive and considerate of others in my posts. If I fall short of that mark, feel free to let me know in good faith, and where appropriate, I'll edit my posts. Thank you.

Did not go myself, but according to posters in this thread:

https://forums.redflagdeals.com/costco- ... #p28136873

55" B7 was $1999 and 65" B7 was $2999.

Funny that I came across the exact brand/model as the first hit in a quick search to find where this was discussed, but I wasn't even specifically referring to LG. It was more of a general comment for people who do not know that there are all kinds of brands there that are on sale every year.

Thinking of buying the C8. Would it be better to buy from Best Buy or Costco?

Best Buy seems to have Free Installation and Wall Mounting Service from Geek Squad.
While Costco has a 2 years warranty.

What do you guys think.

I got my 55 B7 for $1850 + tax at the CNE last year.

That’s awesome. Who was the retailer and is it an authorized reseller?

Costco if at advertised price for their 90 day return policy and 2 year warranty.

Best Buy if you can negotiate a better price or package deal with extended warranty and/or installation and/or calibration. Plus the 65” is small enough to fit in a small SUV so you can take it home yourself the same day.

Obviously, both are authorized dealers.

Peeps...wait just three months (Black Friday to Xmas), you'll save nearly $1k on each of these sets. Last year I negotiated the 65B7 at Best Buy for 2.6k...they will ALL drop SIGNIFICANTLY, probably more than last year!!!

Or if you need one now, pick up a B7 at Costco. Improvements are not that significant for the current price discrepancy. The B7P i have from Costco is beautiful after I calibrated with my Xrite pro and Calman

For anybody that plays or watches anything with a predominantly white screen (i.e. hockey) I wouldn't recommend any OLED TV.

The ABL issue absolutely sucks and was the main reason why I returned my OLED. Aside from that, it would've been the perfect TV.

For pricing reference purposes, I picked up the 65B7 for $2399 at the fall home show.

Wow that’s awesome. That’s significantly lower than every other report I’ve seen.

Who is the seller though? I don’t think I’d buy unless I could confirm it’s an authorized seller. Otherwise getting warranty work could be an issue.

Anyhow, I’d expect the C8 65” to be under $3000 this Black Friday or at the various shows. The B8 might be cheaper though, since the C8 has a real advantage this year.

Anyone get pricing for a 77” model at one of the shows? I think someone in the thread where I was asking about pricing said they didn’t get good deals on the 77”.

Also, what’s the cheapest for third party calibration? I wanted calibration too. The LG factory colours seem a bit off to me, and not as good as most Sonys out of the box. Rtings seems to agree. LG OLEDs calibrate well but aren’t great for colour calibration out of the box.

Authorized seller with six locations in GTA. Others got it for $2499 so I guess I caught them at good time to haggle. There is a thread on it from last fall.

I almost don't want to believe you (only because I could've been enjoying OLED goodness all this time - damn it!).
I've been watching the LG OLED prices like a hawk ready to swoop down and buy; unfortunately even the 2017 models haven't hit the sweet point in pricing I'm looking for.
