LG 60" Plasma $1999.98 @ Costco Mississauga South
Costco Mississauga South has the LG 60PG30 for $1999.98. Thought it was pretty hot for a 60" plasma.
Reg price is $2499.

P.S. my prediction came true 2 weeks early.Last edited by lincoln; May 10th, 2009 at 03:47 AM.

Would be a good deal at $ 1999.
FS has the 60PG60 at $ 2599, which has THX certification, yet Gibby's is selling the new 60PS60 (which is this years version of the 60PG60) for $ 2599 as well. So, logic would dictate that FS should be trying to sell the 60PG60 for around 2K soon. I am going into FS in 2-3 weeks to try to get the 60PG60 for $1999. I will post if successful...
Here is CNET''s review of the 60PG60, which is quite good.

If it helps at all with pricing pressure, count me in for a set as well at that price or better.

At 2000 I'd rather have a good 50" than a crappy 60" to be honest =/ PG30 is LG's low end Plasma isn't it? And LG's plasmas are pretty damn bad in the first place.

Don't know if they are bad per se, but definitely lower end. All of lg's products are, even though they try to run with the big boys with their Scarlet tvs. From what I've heard on AVS, lg plasmas seem to be worse with regards to image retention. Other than that, don't really know. Although I will agree that I'd rather spend 2k on a panasonic plasma than a 60" lg.

I refused to be gouged by canadian retailers when purchases can be made in the U.S for a LOT less..

you have a look at this TV in person... I have seen it properly calibrated and broken in and it is really is impressive. I prefer the deeper blacks and more vibrant colours to the z80 panasonices. IR has been a none issue.
Glare is an issue but not if you are in a basement with little or no windows(like me). I was all set to buy a panny and bought and LG instead. My friends are shocked especially since I talked them out of LG's. For the cost difference it is worth it for me. After all I don't plan on it lasting more then 3 years._______________

Supposedly higher contrast... mega contrast 2,000,000:1.... otherwise not a clue.... going to jump on something like this or a samsung b530 in the next few months.... under $2k 60" is awfully tempting....

50" and 60" are not in the same league...it's worse than comparing a 42" to a 50"

There is nothing wrong with LG's picture quality. I think they are right up there in SD content. HD stuff, like many HDTVs, LG is better than good.
I do agree you might as well get 50" as the regular price premium of 60-inchers over a 50" is not justified. The FS LG 1080p 50" plasma for $1099 last week was hotter IMHO.

I've seen this model on display at a number of different locations. The PQ is good. If anyone thinks otherwise you should take it home and set it up before you pass judgement.
"The PG30 Series from LG is their 2008 entry level line of plasma televisions that feature a native 1080p resolution. The increased resolution is the major step-up over the less expensive PG20 Series, alongside larger display size options. Most of the other improvements that the PG20 made over the 2007 models are found in the PG30 including the extra calibration options, Clear Voice technology and "Invisible Speaker" system. Located above the PG30s is the PG60 Series that adds a premium styling and THX Certification."Last edited by lincoln; May 10th, 2009 at 10:46 PM.
