LG Rebates - wtf?

I have a rebate for an LG 16X dvd writer, just called to ask how the rebate was coming along. The lady told me to look at the 'must be postmarked by' date.

The rebate form says...

Offer valid only with receipt dated 02/11/05 - 02/24/05 for the purchase of an LG GSA-4163B 16x16 Internal Super Multi optical drive. Submissions must be postmarked by March 24, 2005....Please allow 8 weeks for delivery


She says the 8 weeks starts not from when they receive my rebate, but rather from Mar 24. So I bought it Feb 20 and my rebate will likely come May 24. They have my $ for 3 months!!

Welcome to the wonderful world of MIRs!

I usually don't start even checking the online status (if available) of my MIRs untill 2 months have passed and I don't start complaining until 3 months are gone. Just not worth the hassle.
