Seeing as this is not an essential trip i would just wait.

Likelihood of WestJet Seat sale to van?
I'm looking to book a return flight from calgary to vancouver for the april first weekend... Right now I see on westjet the rates are approx 95ish. Now, there are seat sales in the past where the rates were 50-70... As I'm somewhat a travel novice, what would be my best bet? Should I wait around for the seat sale, if one even comes? (This trip is not essential, but would be nice if I could get a nice price)
This travel forum appearance is very timely indeed!

They'll probably will be having a sale soon since they lost $$ for the first time in their existance. I can see a sale coming up in March

I'd hold out for a sale, for short-haul flights like these they'll usually have seat sales throughout the year

or you can try jetsgo.net if you don't mind.
I found you can spend around $50 for a return ticket if
you are lucky and at the right time. although you need
pay around $100 taxes._______________
