To literally get busted for littering someone else's litter would be a little scary.
I am walking on a sidewalk and used my bare fingers to pick up a piece of litter on the grass that was on my right side and dropped it on the road by the curb (on my left side) so that those cleaning machines can clean the crap away at night. A cop was driving by and saw me do part 2, not part 1, while my mom says something like, "Hey, don't use your clean hands to touch garbage". The cop brakes right in the middle of traffic on a hill and gives me dagger eyes. I was like Omigod, is he gonna bust me for littering, in front of my mom and only a few feet away from my front door?!?! I started yelling at the cop that I was moving the litter, that it was not my litter, that I lived here (pointing to house). Anyways, the cop never got out of his car and decides to let me off the hook. So, basically, I should just kick the garbage to the curb next time and not pick it up (and therefore I can't actually *drop* it)?

Hmmm. Perhaps he was giving the "dagger eyes" to the squirrel behind you that was about to jaywalk. Don't you feel silly, now?
