So I just spent my night watching this standoff live on TV. The Buffalo news channels skipped Dancing with the Stars for this.
Felt like the OJ car chase...because it was the only news event I've ever watched live involving a suspect and police/SWAT.
I captured the Buffalo news feed and posted them on youtube. Nothing happened for 2+ hours then this...
Police have now apprehended the individual in the vehicle.
Apparently, one of the police sharp shooters took a shot of the gentleman and police have pulled the guy from the vehicle. The suspect is on his feet and in police custody.
The suspect is being taken from the scene in an ambulance to ECMC for medical evaluation.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - - The suspect is still in his vehicle on this now two hour standoff with police from all over the City of Buffalo.
Police and SWAT teams are crouched down, taking cover behind the baracades, watching and waiting as the scene unfolds. The U.S. Coast Guard has cleard the adjacent water, the Niagara River.
Police are trying to get this situation to and end before night falls
Do you ever wonder why there are so many police officers/swat members there when really nearly only half of them are needed?

Militarization of the Police?_______________
"When the common good of a society is regarded as something apart from and superior to the individual good of its members, it means that the good of some men takes precedence over the good of others, with those others consigned to the status of sacrificial animals." -- Ayn Rand

Its called situational preparedness. If your family was ever in a hostage crisis, you'd be prayed to god, jesus, buddha, allah, yhwh that the police doesn't have a man power shortage.LOG IN TO THANK No one has yet thanked hi-tech for this post.

on another note, did anyone else see the 4 ETF SUV's that were at shell today at mcowan and that road just south of sheppard? 4 ETF suv's a 2 or 3 police cars and an unmarked police suv. One of the ETF cops even had his m4 out. I wonder what happened. This was around $4:45 today...

2 hours and they just end up using a flashbang? You'd think they'd have taken him out in half the time, but at least no one was hurt.
In the second video the woman says thats an unusual situation????... what do you think swat deal with, bunny rabbits and chocolate covered bananas? They deal with that all the time, maybe not the exact situation, but very similar, mostly involving drugs i'd think._______________

Yeah but he was outside most of the time which would have made that more difficult and they were probably trying to "talk him down" for a while before moving in on him.

Actually if you saw the interviews with the SWAT guys themselves, even they said it was different than what they usually do. Usually SWAT take people down in a house or building--they cover the exits, have the blueprints and throw in tear gas or a concussion device, etc. and then move in with sheilds. This was an outside situation so none of their usual tactics applied really.
Once he got in the vehicle (they kept him on the phone long enough that his cell battery was dying and he had to plug it in, in his truck) it wasn't too long after that they moved in and used the flashbang as he was in an enclosed space.LOG IN TO THANK No one has yet thanked ES_Revenge for this post.
