Living In Windsor
Like the topic says, I'm going to be moving to Windsor to do a year of school. Where should I start looking? Recommendations? What would the costs be?

anywhere west end / under the bridge - you'll have fun in windsor!
I lived there for 3 years for school.

around 300 bucks for a room in a house, sharing the kitchen and washroom.
and everthing is included. i mean everything.
350 or more you could get a bedroom in a 2-bedroom apt

Stay FAR AWAY FROM THE WEST END, under the Bridge is alright because it's still near the school, but don't go any further (Sandwich) as you get into the ghettos, I lived their while working in Windsor for a term, ugh, worst experience of my life.
The east end is nice, but expensive, but otherwise around the school, and you're looking around 300+, or 250 if you're in the ghettos (like I was)

wow. thanks guys! that helps a lot.
btw, is the ghettos that bad? drug addicts, break-ins, etc...??
yeah. my budget wouldn't be too high so most likely won't be in the east end.

I've always described Windsor as Detroit Jr. It's no where near as bad as Detroit, but the ghettos can be pretty bad, the further you go West. But yeah under the bridge and whatnot there's a lot of students so it's not too bad there, there's always the south too.

LOL
It's not that bad, I lived in the west end and had a blast.
Dont worry. There is no hood. This is not DETROIT JR.
(p.s. with the shoootings in TO lately, it sounds like TO is Detroit SR)

Newbie
Try the 3 large appartment buildings on Donnelly St. They are close to the school and the bars. They were clean and well run when I was there. I probably wouldn't venture too far west of Sandwich Street either. It is definitely an undesirable neighbourhood out there. I was just down there last week. I recommend the natchos at Huricanes bar...
Good luck,
Cos.

I used to have the best possible location, I lived in the house right behind the Harvey's. Class was literally a 15 second walk for me.
If I had to give any advice though, don't get a basement room anywhere on California... the whole street has problems with drainage and the sewers.
Damn I wish my rent was still that cheap!

I have lived in Windsor for 4 years and loved it. Good bar scene.

yeah. most likely will have to share kitchen and washroom as those can't be avoided. personal washrooms would be good though

If you're willing to open your chequebook there's nothing you can't avoid.
The apartment buildings on Donnelly that was mentioned earlier are loaded with kids. It's not too bad, but it's best to look at other places.
I remember there was an apartment on Sandwich just around Mill that was alright. It's the big two story building with the pillars in the front. Used to be a police station back in the day, so it's got a bit of history and character to it.
Good luck.
