Logitech MX duo not working with USB hub?

I have my laptop plugged into a Vantec Lapcool 2 with USB hub, but when I stick my Logitech MX duo into the hub on the cooling pad, Windows doesn't pick it up. It's like it's not plugged in at all.

The hub works fine cause I can plug other things in and it'll get recognized no problem. It's just the keyboard/mouse set which will detect, and then disappear.

Is it a power issue with the hub? Any ideas or anyone run into anything similar?

I have mine plugged into a cheap powered hub from CC, so I don't think it's a problem inherent to that combo and hubs in general. You may just have a baddie.
