http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/s...d.php?t=314486
More discussion on the laptop can be found here:

It's barely been used, great shape, no scratches.
Most people thought it was a great deal, so I'm selling for cost which is $594 for the base unit + $100 for ram upgrade to 1 GB 667MHz RAM + 30 for HD upgrade to 80GB 7200RPM + $50 for screen upgrade to SXGA+ (1400X1050 resolution) + $125 shipping cost, this all comes to $899 + tax, so in total $1025. It was a bit of an impulse purchase and I now have another laptop I'm using so hopefully I'm able to pass this onto someone who needs it more than I do. I'm also now throwing in a laptop carrying case. I can take pictures upon request.
Price: $1025 -> $1000 -> $975 -> $950 -> $850 OBO -> no longer available

The 2560X1600 resolution could be extremely useful for 3D modeling, CAD, digital photography etc. Just because you can't justify the cost doesn't mean others can't.

Since this a really good question I'll post the same response (slightly abridged) here that I PM'ed you for other people's benefit:
I'm not sure if the newer monitors only come with a 1 year warranty or not but for some reason when the 3007WFP was released it came with a 1 year standard warranty by default. (although you can upgrade it I believe if you call Dell and you're willing to pay the difference) Now it comes with a 3 year standard warranty however they've increased the MSRP by $300 to $2299 from $1999 and there is no way that I know of to downgrade the warranty to 1 year to save the $300. Not sure if it was a mistake by Dell that it only came with a 1 year warranty when it was first released or if this is a trend that will continue with Dell's upcoming monitors.
Not the most thorough answer but to be honest I just don't know.. I've also read that Dell is required to provide a 3 year warranty on their monitors possibly by law but I'm not sure of the specifics on that.
Who knows maybe they'll honour a 3 year warranty even though I purchased the monitor with only a 1 year warranty, though that's just wishful thinking on my part.
