Logitech x530 5.1 not working?

I have a set of x530s and they are setup to works as 5.1 surround but don't always work.

I have an audigy SB gamer with audigy 2 zs drivers. The setup and test have no problems but winamp, media player 9-10, and real player only use 2.1 of the 5 speakers.

Why would it only be using 2.1 instead of the 5.1?

the source needs to be 5.1.

you can get a plugin which allows Winamp to output in 5.1

the surround channel kicks in only when there's sound effect.

You could always just change the output plugin to DirectSound instead of waveOut, that way it'll just upmix stereo sound to surround.

As for windows media player and realplayer... well who cares.
