EDIT: It's true, only 5 in stock for their 12 days of christmas sale.
I'm pretty sure they have more than 5. Wonder if lucky #6 gets normal price.

249 wont sell fast. Powersonic had it for 259 for a while and i doubt they sold many (if any for that matter). z5450 just isnt a quick selling set of speakers and anitec (during their grand opening) also had it for 279. I dont believe they sold a single unit even with over 100 people lining up and going in in the morning.
z5500, which is actually a better set of speakers, sell for 249 all the time and most people will prefer that. The only adventage of the z5450 = wireless back sat (remember thats only 2/4 thats wireless, central speaker of couse is also wired).

The Z5500 doesn't sell for $249 all the time. It is usually selling for $300-350 regular price. I just bought one 2 weeks ago by price matching at FS with the Dell sale. I have never found the Z5500 for $249. It may have happened, once, maybe twice, but definately not all the time.
Also, don't forget for the Z5450, you still have to plug the each of the rear speakers into an outlet. So the wireless speakers may not be as convenient as one might think.

Actually it does during dell days of deals (take a look @ the day of deal in september and october). It was also 249 during tuesday deal i believe 2 weeks ago (same week as the 250 external iomega went for 79 instead of 89 that it was suppose to).
Canadacomputer has also had z5500 on sale for 249 after MIR a couple times. (the last one being 249 after 20 or 30MIR about 1 month ago... at least as far as i remember).
As for 300-350? the regular price for z5500 has always been 289-299 for the last 2 months at a-power, ncix, cancomputer, or anitec (one or more of these companies generally have it for that range except the last 2 weeks the price has for whatever reason gone up). Bestbuy and futureshop seem to rotate one having it for 500+ and the other having it for around 299 (altho after big rebates). Dell also has had it for 269 (last week) and 279 (this week). Note that day of deal so far for dell has not included z5500 and judging by history, dell always includes the z5500 in their day of deal so it should be on sale again in the next couple days (at 229... or thats my guess, in which case i would get a 2nd set, i got 1 set price matched from bestbuy during dell's tuesday report for ~223 + tax... 249 - (509 - 249) * .10 ).
Link (looks like new ones are off their page)

Back on topic on the z5450... anitec still has ALL 5 for their instore deal. My dad went earlier (before comnig home) and told me they had all 5 still. Of course the heavy rain today (in GVR) might have stopped a couple of people from buying it instore.

digital connection = build in DTS and Pro logic decoder = $$$$
it has a analog 2 channel connection also. you can easily connect computers to that and allow the decoder to mix it into 5.1. Either that or get a chaintek sound card with optical out for $20
If you think a PC card with front/read/center outs are better then a actual DTS / pro logic decoder, think again.

LOL, well that just ruins the 'convenience' doesn't it?
So yeah, I'd go for a Z5500 over the Z5450....

There is an extra toslink input on the Z5450 if that matters (as an advantage).
ie Digital STB, 360, and say... a PS2 or something.
5450 has 1 digital coax, and 2 toslink optical. 5500 has only one of each.
Then again the 5500's are louder.
