Looking for Big Land replacement

Can anybody recommend a good Chinese grocery store in the Markham area? I still miss Big Land Farm and T & T isn't quite the same.

Right where they were. Another Chinese grocer similiar to Big Land. That, or down Kennedy further to Oriental Food Mart

My HK buddy tells me that BL owners were actually brothers and bought a lot of stuff on credit. Then decided to cash out and declare bankrupcy leaving everyone high and dry. Then repurchased with "Personal Savings", he even brought a Cantonese paper to school but what's a white ass like me going to know? I can't read Greek or whatever you Asian write all squiggly.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but according to what I've heard. It was a big family dispute at Big Land Farm (Each of the stores was owned by a brother or a sister from the same family and there was a rift or divide between them and it basically tore apart the franchise). I've always wondered if this was true and hopefully someone can verify or nullify this claim.

I heard that someone in the family who owned Big Land lost a lot of money gambling.

T&T was usually packed and the Big Land at McCowan/Alton Towers was quiet / dead.

Im pretty sure gambling was a factor...From what I heard all personal assets went to family or close ones, they packed up whatever what left and went belly up..Lots of the stuff in Big Land was on credit by monthly or more..

The same could be said for 456.

I'm actually puzzled by the opposite: why did 456 (at least in their Bayview location) have so many customers, when they carried long expired food (some even a few years past expiry date). It is this kind of poorly operated stores (another was Wah Yan in "New Mongkok") that gives Chinese groceries the bad name. They should be shut down. :still mad:
